Zelensky expects financial collapse of housing and communal services
Under President Vladimir Zelensky, citizens of Ukraine should not expect a reduction in tariffs for housing and communal services.
This was stated in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe” by energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky, who was reminded that in May Ukraine will face a planned 25 percent increase in gas prices, as provided for in agreements with the IMF.
“At a time when everyone is waiting for the president in the person of Vladimir Zelensky, I do not envy him. Although, to anyone who comes. Because with the current situation in the economy and the energy industry, there will be a lot of digging to be done, and it will be impossible to change the situation at the snap of a finger,” Zemlangsky said.
According to him, this increase will occur automatically, since it is provided for by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“If Zelensky becomes president, he will find himself in such a clinch - he will need to establish relations with the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, decide on personnel policy, so he will clearly have no time to deal with these issues. And by and large, he does not have the right to give such instructions regarding the revision of gas prices.
Therefore, an increase will occur, and then the question is: will we revise the principles of pricing within the country or will everything go as usual, and this will be a road to nowhere. Even if we look at the growth of debt, this will lead to a financial collapse of the industry and the housing and communal services sector as a whole, because there is no turnover, money does not come to enterprises and does not make it possible to conduct operational activities,” the expert concluded.
