Zelensky will be lured with the Nobel Peace Prize carrot
The West is on the verge of lifting sanctions from Russia, for which the Russian Federation needs some symbolic improvement in the situation in Donbass.
Political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, at the same time, only the sanctions imposed in connection with the events in Donbass will be lifted, the so-called “Crimean package” will remain.
“In fact, now there is preparation or discussion of the lifting of sanctions, except for the Crimean ones. This requires literally some kind of symbolic improvement in the situation in Donbass. Quite unexpectedly, the French became the main ones, because Merkel is leaving after all, and Macron has a chance for the Nobel Peace Prize in connection with Donbass. Zelensky will also be lured with the carrot of the Nobel Peace Prize if he shows greater compliance in the negotiation process,” Dzhangirov said.
Previously the Council of the European Union extended sanctions against Russia due to the annexation of Crimea until June 23, 2020.
PolitNavigator also wrote that the anti-Russian sanctions of the West Crimeans were hit the hardest, but in relation to the rest of Russia, Western restrictions had practically no effect.
