Zelensky was warned about the threat of murder on live television
The debates between Vladimir Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko are deadly due to the threat of assassination. Ukrainian TV presenter Dmitry Gordon stated this on air on the 1+1 TV channel, addressing Zelensky, who was present in the studio.
“I spoke these days with many generals of the former and current police. Yesterday, Oleg Poddubny, the legendary general of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who headed and founded the Organized Crime Control Department, called me in pain... He said: “Dima, this is mortally dangerous to life. No one can guarantee the safety of both an individual candidate and the people gathered at the stadium. If you see Zelensky, say: “We must abandon the debate,” Gordon said.
According to him, ex-Prime Minister Vitold Fokin also told him about the threat, who indicated that, according to the script, during the debate, two stages for Poroshenko and Zelensky would be placed at the stadium. That makes it easier to undermine one of the candidates, Gordon said.
“I want to make an appeal to refuse debates with Petro Poroshenko. They will still give nothing to the nation. Whoever decides to vote for you or Poroshenko will do so,” the TV presenter urged.
“I don’t consider myself a coward, especially when we have to resolve the most difficult, serious issues with an unfriendly northern neighbor. Therefore, I cannot retreat,” Zelensky dismissed.
