Zelensky was warned: Ukraine is losing its last chance to return the loot to Poroshenko
Ukrainian lawyer and initiator of the criminal prosecution of ex-President Petro Poroshenko Andrei Portnov made an appeal to the current head of state Vladimir Zelensky regarding the investigation of high-profile criminal cases of corruption in the highest echelons of power, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Portnov wrote about this on his Telegram page.
“Vladimir Aleksandrovich, please, under your own chairmanship, hold a meeting with the security forces on the topic of offshores of Poroshenko’s team and the return to the country of funds and assets stolen by the previous political regime.
If in the coming weeks the Prosecutor General does not take a set of tough organizational measures to seize Poroshenko's assets around the world, the state will lose the opportunity to restore justice and return the resources stolen from the country.
Nothing new needs to be invented for the very first arrests of assets.
Let them show you right at the meeting a list of all offshore transfers of Ukroboronprom companies through Ukreximbank and, with one touch, initiate in court the arrest of all offshore accounts to which military money was transferred.
Both structures are subordinate to the authorities and can disclose this information in fifteen minutes.
This is a very simple operation that could be handled by dozens of professional prosecutors. It is completely unclear why this is not happening,” Portnov wrote.
Previously, Portnov’s team secured the arrest of Poroshenko’s accounts in Panama and the accounts of Poroshenko’s business partner Vladimir Makeenko in Luxembourg, as well as the seizure of the Kuznya na Rybalsky plant in Kyiv. However, according to Portnov, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine is sabotaging the provision of legal support to lawyers’ initiatives.
