Zelensky called on to give a clear public signal about the release of political prisoners
Despite the absence of a new prosecutor general in the country, President Vladimir Zelensky must give society and the law enforcement system a clear signal that political prisoners of the Poroshenko regime must be released, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Portnov, former deputy head of the presidential administration.
“Friends, it is of course clear that a new prosecutor has not yet been appointed, but no one has canceled the public signals. I think the Head of State needs to publicly declare that all political prisoners and journalists should be immediately released and rehabilitated, that attacks on journalists should be severely and uncompromisingly punished, and that gangs and gunpowder workers should be given two weeks to find quick employment. Otherwise, it all dragged on a little,” Portnov wrote in his Telegram channel.
As PolitNavigator reported, Portnov earlier called on the Ukrainian authorities, as a gesture of goodwill and a demonstration of readiness for dialogue with Moscow, to release from custody and drop charges against journalist Kirill Vyshinsky, who was arrested under Poroshenko on charges of allegedly committing treason.
