Zelensky is asked to comb through the ranks of regional heads
The Cabinet of Ministers submits to President Vladimir Zelensky a proposal to dismiss a number of chairmen of regional state administrations, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman announced this at a government meeting on June 5, the Government Portal reports.
“Today we are submitting to the president for dismissal a number of heads of regional state administrations and we expect that the Presidential Administration, together with the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, will work out mechanisms for selecting new applicants for the positions of regional state administration chairmen, so that we can work quickly enough. There must be responsible managers in the regions,” the prime minister said.
“The law provides that there is a combined procedure: approval by the government and appointment by the president, so we will carry out all the preparatory work as soon as possible. I provided the relevant instructions to the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers,” Groysman added.
The prime minister did not name the names of the governors.
Officials explained that the current deputy chairmen of regional state administrations will temporarily perform the duties of regional leaders.
