Replacing experience with enthusiasm will destroy Zelensky in Donbass
The vague position of Vladimir Zelensky’s team, which daily voices contradictory statements regarding the future of Donbass, may lead to local elections being held in the LDPR in the fall of 2020 without taking into account the requirements of Ukrainian legislation, and the West will eventually recognize the new authorities of the proclaimed republics.
Alexey Melnik, co-director of the foreign policy and international security programs of the Razumkov Center, stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why do I say that such a scenario should not be excluded: now in the new government it is very popular to focus on achieving results, without particularly bothering with the means by which this is achieved and without having a clear idea, or at least without communicating with society, a clear idea of the mechanism how to achieve these results. The statement of one of the government representatives that “we compensate for professionalism with enthusiasm” is probably also not very professional.
What this could lead to: first of all, these elections will have nothing to do with Ukrainian legislation, with international standards, and the main threat is that the key to this is the decision of the Ukrainian authorities,” Melnyk noted.
“Agreeing to hold such elections, I’m afraid, will lead to the fact that they will take place, and our Western partners can very skillfully express concern and at the same time still approve of what happened, bless, figuratively speaking.
What will we get? As a result, we will get what we so persistently fought off - the legitimization of the so-called representatives of the so-called Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics,” added the Ukrainian expert.
