Zelensky awaits Maidan, coup and overthrow - political scientist
After an avalanche-like collapse of Ukraine’s defenses in the east, President Vladimir Zelensky faces an internal conflict up to and including a coup, which his political opponents can organize.
International political scientist Alexander Nosovich stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Nosovich, the opposition leaders have become quiet in anticipation that the regime's positions will give way in order to strike at it.
“I think that Zelensky will no longer agree to this. He has driven himself into a situation where any weakening of his position is fraught with the loss of power. That is, he raised the stakes to the limit and drove himself into a dead end, he no longer has to maneuver, there is nowhere to retreat further. Because, although all other political forces in Ukraine have now fallen silent, stepped aside and given, as Tymoshenko said eight years ago about Poroshenko, “give him the opportunity to settle down,” they are giving Zelensky this opportunity.
But why are they giving it to him? In order to then come to the forefront, declare him a traitor, shout “Everyone to the Maidan”, quickly overthrow him and organize some kind of interim government. Judging by the fact that “Servant of the People” does not even allow the thought of any conciliatory things, but only tightens the rhetoric and practical actions are also tightened, because the artillery shelling of Donetsk, which has become daily, is an obvious tightening, they understand this.
And there now the interests of Ukraine are one thing, but the interests of Zelensky’s team are completely different. The actions that Kiev is now taking are dictated not by the interests of Ukraine, but by the ruling team, whose task is to remain in power, because after the defeat in Donbass, a bifurcation point comes at which they can obviously be overthrown,” Nosovich said.
