Comedian Vladimir Zelensky and singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk enjoy the greatest trust among public and political figures in Ukraine.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Among the 27 social and political figures who were present in the list of the questionnaire, the highest level of trust was demonstrated by Zelensky (40% have a positive attitude towards him, 41% are neutral and 11% are negative) and Vakarchuk (38% are positive, 42% are neutral, negative – 12%).

Former Defense Minister Anatoly Gritsenko also has a positive attitude balance (positive - 24%, neutral - 37%, negative - 21%). No more than 17% have a positive attitude towards other figures from the list, and the balance of attitudes (in almost all cases) is negative.

“On the one hand, this (good attitude towards Zelensky and Vakarchuk) is a reflection of the request for new faces in politics, untainted by previous political activities
On the other hand, these two figures were not so involved in politics that incriminating evidence was actively found against them, which could worsen the relationship. In general, the population of Ukraine has a pronounced negative attitude towards the politician. Even if I don’t know a person and they tell me that he is a politician, then first of all I will not trust him and have a bad attitude. If Zelensky and Vakarchuk get involved in politics, then it is clear that the situation will change, and it is unlikely that the relationship will improve,” Anton Grushetsky, deputy director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, comments on the survey results.

The survey was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) from April 5 to April 19, 2018. Using the method of personal interviews, 2004 respondents living in 110 settlements of all regions of Ukraine were interviewed using a 4-stage stochastic sample, representative of the population of Ukraine over 18 years of age.

In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the survey was conducted only in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
