Zelensky desperately needs a meeting with the leaders of the Normandy Four - expert
The meeting of political advisers to the presidents of Russia and Ukraine was needed in order to begin preparations for a new summit of the Normandy Four, which, in turn, is needed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to show that there is some progress in the process of resolving the conflict in Donbass.
Vladimir Volya, an international political scientist at the Ukrainian Institute of Politics, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This meeting of advisers is needed in order to unlock the possibility of a new summit at the highest level. That is, this is interesting to President Zelensky and his team. And there is a personal interest of Andrei Ermak, since the president entrusted him with overseeing this area, i.e. he expects a certain level of efficiency from Andrei Ermak’s work in this area.
A marker of this is the opportunity to hold a new summit at the highest level. If this summit does not take place, then in fact we can say that President Zelensky has not succeeded in his policy of achieving progress in resolving the conflict in Donbass.
Therefore, now everyone is working so that there is this formal sign that there is still progress: look, we have completed the second meeting,” said Vladimir Volya.
