Zelensky is threatened with trial for desertion
In 2014, Vladimir Zelensky avoided being drafted into the army to fight in the ATO - which means his place is not in the post of commander in chief, but in prison for desertion.
Deputy Tatyana Chernovol stated this during a planned meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have a request to the Ministry of Defense. This is a very relevant request in the context of the current presidential campaign. We elect the president, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the defender of Ukraine and society. And there was alarming information in the media that one of the candidates was not ready to take on the functions of a defender. The point is that, it seems, in 2014, Mr. Zelensky refused to be drafted. That is, he refused to perform the functions of a defender,” she noted.
In this regard, Tatyana Chernovol demanded that this information be checked and this case investigated.
“And therefore, hearing an official answer to this question now is extremely important for society. We need to confirm or deny this information as soon as possible, so I am now making this request. But I want to say that evading military duties is a criminal matter. I would also like to hear, if this is the right, whether criminal proceedings have been initiated in this regard, because we are talking about such a crime as desertion,” added the people’s deputy.
