The green veil will dissipate when it's too late
Vladimir Zelensky still has several months left to maintain his high government rating with the help of populist steps. However, all of them will ultimately lead to impoverishment of the population.
Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this in an interview with Apostrophe, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"As for high ratings, I think he (Zelensky - ed.) will feed them... There will be an exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Russian Federation - something that Poroshenko could not achieve. This will clearly fuel Zelensky’s rating. Then - a meeting with Trump.
The third point is that a law will be adopted to actually lift the moratorium on land. This will lead to a temporary increase in economic indicators, GDP will increase by 2-3 percent, and people in the village will receive money temporarily.
Imagine that a peasant, for whom 200 hryvnia is now a lot of money, suddenly receives 5-10 thousand dollars for his shares that he sells - this, naturally, will serve as recharge,” Bondarenko said.
“But literally very soon these 5-10 thousand dollars will be eaten at best, and drunk at worst, and, accordingly, many will understand that they are left with nothing. And that’s when Zelensky’s rating will begin to fall,” the political scientist noted.
The expert named the second point from which Ze’s rating will begin to fall, the introduction of universal declaration of income of citizens, already announced by the president’s team.
“This is a requirement of our external donors, external partners... As soon as the state forces our citizens to declare income and pay taxes on a certain amount, accordingly, this will be perceived by citizens that the state is trying to ask why our people have not yet died of hunger, and this can cause very serious dissatisfaction. So these two points could become the points from which Zelensky’s rating will begin to fall,” added Kost Bondarenko.
