Zemlyansky: Gas-fired power generation will cost Ukraine much more than thought
The real price of electricity generated at gas units of Ukrainian thermal power plants may be almost twice as high as previously assumed.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the First Kozatsky channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Earlier, the head of DTEK, Maxim Timchenko, stated that electricity from gas would cost UAH 5,5. per kilowatt-hour.
“Timchenko spoke about burning either coal with gas or pure gas. According to his calculations, if you deliver coal, it will cost 4 UAH. per kilowatt-hour, if coal with gas - 5 UAH, if pure gas - 5,5 UAH. per kilowatt-hour. What’s interesting is that against this backdrop, Centerenergo went public at the end of last week with a “test version”, with the volume of electricity produced from gas – “guys, lower than 9 UAH. We can’t do it in a kilowatt-hour.”
That is 9,1 UAH. per kilowatt-hour. DTEK has 5,5, Centrenergo has 9,1. We are now calculating the cost of production, because they calculated based on the cost of gas: 27 thousand UAH or 1000 dollars per thousand cubic meters. They got 9,1 UAH. per kilowatt-hour. If gas is 27 thousand UAH, then 8,8. In this case, comments are unnecessary,” concluded Valentin Zemlyansky.
