Zemlyansky spoiled the entire gas “victory” for the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine
Statements by Ukrainian figures that with the new gas contract Ukraine almost forced Gazprom to play “exclusively according to European rules and norms,” to put it mildly, do not correspond to reality.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the NASH TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio quoted Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmitry Kuleba.
“I believe that we are not yet ripe for a return to direct deliveries. But that’s not even the question...Nowhere in the EU rules is it written that you should not buy gas from a certain country. Therefore, when we create an integral energy gas market in accordance with EU standards, we cannot prohibit companies from buying gas from Gazprom in accordance with their agreements, but Gazprom will play in Ukraine exclusively according to European rules and regulations,” Kuleba said in last interview.
“It’s very cool that you quoted Mr. Kuleba, I would like to ask him a question, what did he mean by “immature”? How is that? That is, everything was there before 2014, but in 2014 we fell back into childhood, or what? Honestly, if you trace this quote itself, a classic question arises: who stood on whom?
That is, in the EU there are rules that indicate the need for non-discrimination in relation to a particular company. And in this case, speaking about Gazprom, we say that it can play on an equal footing just like any other players on the market. Today there are no restrictions for this,” Zemlyansky commented.
