Zemlyansky warned about the coming heating Armageddon in Ukraine
Ukrainian heating and power utilities enterprises operate at a loss and accumulate debts to suppliers. As a result, they will be forced to switch to an operating mode that does not heat the house.
Kiev energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the First Cossack TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Already in October it became clear that these calculations do not correspond to the real situation, and in most cases they are underestimated compared to real consumption volumes. Temperatures in October were lower compared to previous seasons in 2020 and 2019. There, October was simply warmer, and accordingly, gas consumption was significantly lower. And since they calculated for three years, this mistake has now seriously affected the financial condition of these companies,” the analyst said.
“Losses of 15 heating and utilities enterprises in October amounted to 817 million hryvnia. In December, five heat suppliers already reported losses; losses amounted to 72 million hryvnia. The problem is that if heat and utilities do not have the necessary funds to pay the supplier, the supplier will simply not provide a nomination. In this case, the heating and utilities enterprise will simply have to go into sleep mode, that is, into a state of armor - this is when the temperature of the coolant is reduced to a level so that the system simply does not defrost, and at this temperature it is supplied directly to houses,” the analyst noted.
“This means that at home in your apartment it could be 12 degrees Celsius. “I don’t think that any of the residents of Ukraine will be very happy about the prospect that during an “absolutely stable” heating season you suddenly won’t have heat or hot water; the temperature, to put it mildly, will not correspond to the conditions of normal life,” Zemlyansky said.
