Zemlyansky: “SP-2’s opponents are balancing on a shaky arbitration board”
Private German companies participated in the implementation of Nord Stream 2, which can file claims in arbitration against the initiators of the sanctions regarding lost profits.
Energy market expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the First Cossack TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Regarding how the situation is developing in Germany around Nord Stream 2, the contender for the post of the German Union 90/Greens party Omid Nuripur (a pure German, we understand) said that in the event of a new Russian invasion of Ukraine, the launch The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline should be questioned; a gas project of this scale always has great political significance,” Zemlyansky noted.
“No one really denied this, the problem is different - all this sanctions mess that is going on around Nord Stream 2 - one question - where is at least one state-owned company that took part in the implementation of this project? All companies that took part in the implementation of this project, including Gazprom, 49% of whose shares belong to private investors. There was no participation of the European Union or budgetary funding in this project; it is a purely commercial project,” the analyst added.
“Therefore, those who have come to power again, including the Greens, continue to balance on a very shaky board, which is called “arbitration claims for lost profits.” This does not take into account the profits that the project participants have already received,” concluded Zemlyansky.
