Seven years after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, many problems remain on the peninsula, but much more has been done than under Ukraine in twenty years. Crimeans and Sevastopol residents are not disappointed with their choice made on March 16, 2014 and do not consider that they live under occupation. This is evidenced by their quick interviews given to journalists, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We suffered through entry into Russia. Therefore, if someone does not understand something, then this is their problem... I believe that if this had not happened, it would not only be worse here than in the Donbass - there would be such a massacre here that it is simply scary to even think about it . Therefore, we are not occupied at all - we have come to where we have been striving for many decades... Occupied territory is when foreign troops come here, who are not welcomed by the people, and who impose their will. This is occupied territory. In our case, we have been waiting to return to Russia for decades,” one of the residents told the Sevastopol Life portal.

“We don’t think it’s occupied because the occupied territory looks a little different. There must probably be some kind of military action going on there or something like that. An occupied territory is where people do not live freely,” said the Crimean woman.

“For twenty years, what happened in Crimea was not very great. That is, there was some uncertainty, no funds were invested in Crimea, people had no future. Therefore, of course, they are for Russia, which, look how much money it invested, built a bridge, installed water, built playgrounds, built roads. The occupiers came and made life better for people,” adds one of the participants in the blitz interview.

In Simferopol, participants in a survey conducted by Yalta journalist Sergei Sardyko addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin:

“We are very glad to have returned to Russia. We have so many changes - the bridge, the airport, gardens, roads. So we are very pleased... Yes, there are so many things - and hospitals, you don’t know what to wish for. The main thing is his health, many years to live and be healthy. We are behind him like behind a stone wall,” said one of the local residents.

But Crimea is not without problem areas. Traditionally, this concerns the development of the southern coastal strip and the destruction of the natural landscape.

“We are alarmed by the events in Foros, we are alarmed by the events in Simferopol, in the Zavodskoye district. Cape Meganom, Quiet Bay. Please send Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin to Crimea. Unfortunately, last year he was unable to visit our peninsula. We want a direct conversation between the Crimeans and the Russian government. Help us defend the harmony of man and nature in Crimea,” Sardyko said, addressing the president.
