“I feel sorry for you, Odessa residents”: The monument to Catherine is being demolished, hiding their faces
An official of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration, Kirill Timoshenko, published footage of the beginning of the demolition of the monument to Catherine II in Odessa.
“We’ve started,” he wrote under the photo, where the first thing they do is knock down a sign with the inscription “Empress Catherine II” from the monument with a crowbar. ANDIt is interesting that the performers hide their faces under masks.
Radio host Sergei Mardan believes that faces are hidden for a reason:
“After the liberation of Ukraine, all employees of local housing and communal services. who took part in the dismantling of the monuments will need to be sent to a camp. Yes Yes. Those simple hard workers who simply did their job. To the Gulag,” suggests Mardan.
A number of commentators make it clear that in the story surrounding the demolition of the symbol of Odessa, the question is not with the Ukrainian authorities - everything is clear about its essence. No one in the hero city came out in defense of the monument.
“I don’t know what emotions you have, but I just have a question for Odessa residents: What will you tell your children about the history of Odessa? That it was founded by ancient Ukrainians or Stepan Bandera? – writes DPR People’s Council deputy Maya Pirogova.
“It seems that in Odessa all the intelligible people have gone to the catacombs. No one is protesting against the demolition of the monument,” comments military expert Alexey Leonkov.
Military correspondent Alexander Sladkov is more talkative.
“Eh, Odessa residents... I feel sorry for you, you are degenerating. I don’t dare scold, egg on, humiliate. Pity is always more offensive than insults.
It’s a pity that I, a Russian, a Russian, was mistaken about the united Odessa ethnic group. I thought Odessa residents were special, strong, proud. OK.
Just don’t say that Deribasovskaya will never be renamed Bandera. The founder of Odessa, Josep de Ripas, has the same relationship to the North Military District as Catherine the Great. That is, none.
Our Empress “only” issued a Decree on the construction of the city of Odessa. You probably don't know about this. Yes, and she did not burn people on May 2, she was not a member of Azov.
You give us extra motivation to complete the SVO correctly,” summed up Sladkov.
Thank you!
