Thirst for profit: In the Ukrainian army there is a competition of 200 people for a place on the border with Donbass
In the Ukrainian army, there is a competition of 200 people for one place at a checkpoint on the border with the DPR, where service promises enormous profits thanks to bribes.
The leader of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, spoke about this at a press conference.
“To the checkpoint that stands on our territory (territory of the DPR occupied by Ukrainian troops - approx. ed.), the queue to get there is about 200 people. Because one day of service at a checkpoint is equivalent to 10 years of work in the field,” Zakharchenko said.

Earlier, the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kherson region, Ilya Kiva, admitted that even low-level participants in smuggling schemes on the border of Ukraine with the LDPR earn enormous money.
“The money that is being paid now in the east goes beyond any perception of normal decency. “I won’t take it for 100 thousand, but for a million it’s already hard to refuse. What if it’s a million a day?” And any checkpoint easily earns a million a day - it’s generally simple,” Kiva said.
