“We waited for help, but waited for captivity”: revelations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian command abandoned untrained soldiers without food and communications in Volnovakha.
This was stated during interrogation by one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants who surrendered to the Russian army, Igor Badyuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Badyuk, several groups of Ukrainian Armed Forces were sent to Volnovakha in anticipation of the entry of Russian troops. Soon they were supposed to be replaced, but after several days spent under shelling, without waiting for reinforcements, the militants surrendered.
“On the 7th, consisting of 15 people, we were brought to the village of Volnovakha. We divided into three groups of five people. We were told to occupy empty houses and watch for the entry of sabotage groups. We had no communications and no food. On the evening of the 7th, the shelling began and ended on the 9th. But help didn’t come to us; we moved to the basement of another house. There we took off our uniforms, put down our machine guns and waited for help to come for us.
On the 13th, a Russian army serviceman came to the basement and shouted to put down his weapons, uniforms and surrender,” Badyuk said.
