Zhebrivsky in Donbass could be replaced by a radical
The retired head of the Donetsk VGA, Pavel Zhebrivsky, may be replaced in his post by an official with more radical views.
Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Why did Zhebrivsky decide to leave? I don’t know for sure, I can only put forward versions. Perhaps this is related to the election campaign. Zhebrivsky is a bright politician, and he can lead one of the government’s projects. Perhaps this is due to the progress that has emerged within the Normandy Four, attempts to legalize the Minsk agreements again according to the Steinmeier formula, and Zhebrivsky’s disagreement or reluctance to take part in this again. Perhaps this is due to the reformatting of the ATO into the JFO, and the change of local authorities, among other things. Whether the policy in Donbass will change depends on the figure of his successor. A more balanced person might come, or maybe a more radical one,” says Bortnik.
