Zhebrovsky was sent to Donetsk for the sole purpose of escalating the conflict to the limit - political scientist
The new governor of the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk region, Pavel Zhebrovsky, was assigned to carry out tasks ordered from above, regardless of anything: neither the opinion of the local population, nor common sense.

This opinion about this appointment expressed by Ukrainian political scientist Alexey Blyuminov.
“Zhebrovsky is still an ally of Yushchenko. This man was assigned to carry out tasks ordered from above, without regard for anything: neither the opinion of the local population, nor common sense. Moreover, he has experience in forming volunteer ultra-right battalions and maintaining them. His tasks are not to negotiate with local elites, build consensus, or ensure peace in the territory. And he doesn't hide it. Listen to his first statements: “we will fight the ‘cotton wool’ in our heads,” that is, instill an ideology alien to the region,” says the political scientist.
In addition, Blyuminov believes that the appointment of Zhebrovsky is a sure sign of Kyiv’s course towards aggravating the situation in Donbass, as is the appointment of Saakashvili in Odessa.
“I consider this appointment to be a link in a common chain with Saakashvili’s appointment to Odessa - just as crazy and aimed solely at escalating the conflict. If Kyiv needed peace at least in its part of Donbass, if it needed dialogue with the local population, I’m sure a completely different person would be appointed to Donetsk,” the political scientist sums up.
