After the parade on May 9 in Sevastopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent interviewed veterans of the Great Patriotic War about their attitude to what was happening in Kyiv and the Donbass.

“I wish that they are healthy and that everything works out for them. I have sisters in Kyiv. I feel very sorry for them and would like there to be peace and friendship there. So that they can be with us and come to visit us. And good, good health to them so that they can survive everything,” says the elderly woman. Another one supports it:

“I think everything will change and everything will be fine. And I hope that they will have the same holiday as we have today.”

“Of course it will,” adds the veteran woman.

“The most important thing is that I would like to wish our veterans, who have already gone through one war and survived to see the second, health and courage, strength and most importantly, of course, victory. If they were here next to us, then we would be better off, more reliable. But all the same, victory to them, good luck and health,” she concluded.

“I think that since they defeated one fascism, they will defeat the second,” added an old man sitting next to him, hung with military awards.

“It’s time for the Kyiv authorities to have a conscience. They need to apologize to the people and leave from there,” another Sevastopol veteran echoed.

“This is some kind of horror. Is that possible? They sold themselves. They sold it,” the old man was indignant at what was happening in Kyiv.

“They need to fight for justice. The most important thing is not to obey the Ukrainian scoundrels. Only through struggle can everything be put in its place,” concluded his comrade in arms.

A pensioner standing nearby admitted that his Kyiv friends were jealous of his happiness.

“They are my friends today, classmates from Kyiv called me and said that we envy you. You are a happy person, they say. I say that you should have listened to me that year, and everything would have been fine. And you are all off to Europe. It’s good to live in Europe, but you have to work there, and we are already pensioners. We have happiness here, sunshine, bread, wine and peace,” he said.
