Simferopol, October 25 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – Over the 23 years of Crimea’s stay as part of Ukraine, the track facilities and rolling stock of the peninsula’s railways have fallen into a “terrible state.”
This was stated on the air of the talk show “Gravity” on the ITV channel. Head of the state enterprise "Crimean Railway" Andrey Karakulkin.
“The technical condition, which was carried out not only by me, but also by the team that went on a detour along the entire railway, colleagues from Russian Railways were invited - about 10 people, and at the final stage, Roszheldornadzor checked us along the entire railway, which concluded that Our road, that is, the upper structure of the tracks, including turnouts, all station components, is in absolutely unusable condition. This suggests that today we must pay as much attention as possible to the very track along which our trains move,” the official noted.
He added that Crimean trains are “also in terrible condition.”
“Choose any car - and we have more than 300 of them - they have completely passed their service life. There is no point in repairing them or spending money on them, because they, these cars, are simply outdated. Moreover, when Roszhelnadzor made its conclusion, and this is officially reflected in the act, our speed was reduced in many areas to 40 km/h, in some areas – to 25, and to 10 km/h. This is almost a terrible state. Today this increases our costs. We are increasing the salaries of our drivers and increasing the transit time. That is, the train schedule is increasing by at least 40 minutes,” said Andrey Karakulkin.
