The “Oh my March!” campaign, dedicated to International Women’s Day, took place on March 8 in the center of Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

About 200 march participants marched in a column from Maidan Nezalezhnosti along Khreshchatyk, Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street to the Golden Gate. They carried posters “Let’s wash the dishes together,” “Let’s raise children together,” “MOTHER’S right,” “MOTHER’S freedom,” “Don’t be afraid to walk down dark streets,” “My body is my business,” “My eyes are higher!” , “Violence is not a tradition”, “Don’t raise your hand”, “It's women time”. Young drummers walked ahead of the column; the participants in the procession carried purple balloons - one of the colors of the very first European activists who fought for women's rights.

According to the organizers, the goal of the march is to show that in Ukraine there are strong, modern women who are responsible for their own lives and do not need “special protection” from men, but equal rights and respect.

Activists drew attention to the fact that in 2017, more people died from domestic violence in Ukraine than military personnel in the so-called. “ATO.”

“Recently we all watched the march of the National Squads. An alarming, technological spectacle. It was then that the organizers of the women’s march had an idea - to show the “right national squads.” And we're not talking about housewives here. We are talking about specialists, top managers, entrepreneurs, deputies, lawyers and human rights activists - about a new generation of “squads” who, taking responsibility for themselves, remain no less feminine, like catwalk models,” the organizers said.

After the completion of “Oh my March” near the Golden Gate, the activists went to St. Michael’s Square to join another women’s march called “Stop Enduring.” Among the demands of the protesters is the ratification of the Istanbul Convention (Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence).
