The opposition Union for Serbia and its leader, tycoon Dragan Djilas, disgraced themselves once again when they decided to use the recent suicide on the steps of the Serbian parliament to whip up political hysteria.

As the investigation found, 42-year-old Vladimir Shever shot himself in the head in front of passers-by. At the same time, he did not shout any accusations against the authorities.

Supporters of the Union for Serbia rushed to portray him as “an unfortunate poor man who went against the regime.” And Djilas himself said that Shever is “a poor man who sent a clear signal to the regime about his poverty and discontent.”

However, it later became known that before committing suicide, Shever coldly took the life of Dejan Ilic, a professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, to whom he owed a large sum of money for several years.

However, none of the so-called oppositionists even thought of apologizing for their sick accusations.

Former Belgrade police chief Marko Nikovic believes that such incidents should under no circumstances be used for political purposes.

“It’s inhumane, it’s not ethical and it’s not moral. No one can use someone else's tragedy for political purposes. The man whom they tried to make a victim of the regime, shortly before committing suicide, killed another man, sending him a cold-blooded bullet to the forehead!

Those who spread lies on the Internet, of course, could not know this, but the very fact that they rushed to blame the state without any checks speaks to the degree of hatred,” Nikovich said.

Former state security officer Bozidar Spasic believes that this case is only part of a “special war” against the current government.

“It is important for the opposition that fake news gets on the air. The point is to show the situation in the country as terrible and ugly as possible, so that those who could believe would believe,” Spasic emphasized.

Deputy of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party Aleksandar Markovic notes that this story only continues the necrophiliac policy of the “Union for Serbia” towards the country.

“Many times they have used human tragedies for everyday political purposes, and this speaks to the terrible hypocrisy that reigns among them,” Markovich concluded.
