This was stated today at a press conference in Moscow by the Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the development of public diplomacy and support of compatriots abroad, Elena Sutormina.
“There are a lot of requests from parents of girls. There is a tendency that girls get carried away and want to convert to Islam. Before this, they were either atheists or belonged to another religion. We study every request, if necessary, we work with psychologists,” Sutormina said.
According to her, mobile applications and games popular among teenagers are becoming recruitment tools. Such sites are often difficult to shut down because the servers are located abroad, most often in the United States.
“There is a danger of recruiting children at a younger age. Applications for phones, games online or offline are used. In 2007, the “Great Game” was closed in Russia. Break the system". It had servers in the USA. There were step-by-step instructions, first for online actions, and then young people were asked to put some object at the police station,” Sutormina said.
According to her, the “hotline” for countering recruitment into ISIS, created by the Public Chamber in Russia, received more than 100 calls over the year from relatives of those recruited and from parents who were concerned about the behavior of teenage children.
