LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky argued with the head of A Just Russia, Sergei Mironov, that the Social Revolutionaries would not enter parliament next year.

The politicians made the bet during a discussion among top officials of Russian political forces within the framework of the “Territory of Meanings” forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The dispute began with an appeal to the head of the United Russia faction, Sergei Neverov, by a young representative of the party, Mironov.

“Since 2003, the United Russia party has actually had a ruling position in the executive and legislative branches at all levels, but, unfortunately, these attempts have not been able to defeat poverty and corruption. But this party pushed through pension reform, increasing VAT, optimizing healthcare, and so on. In 2016, the A Just Russia party and I, including myself, collected signatures for the “Do or Leave” action in Vladivostok against Medvedev and his government.

And the question is: after four years, without having done anything, Medvedev left. Shouldn’t the United Russia faction show solidarity, get together and follow the leader?” – asked the young man.

In response, Neverov stated that even if United Russia leaves, the list of “Socialist Revolutionaries” is not enough to take seats in the State Duma.

United Russia appeared in 2001, and in 2003, in the State Duma elections, it received 37 percent and did not have a majority. And only when the deputies, who were independent and elected as self-nominees, joined United Russia, we received a majority, and in 2004 a law on the mineral extraction tax was adopted, which no one could pass before.

What this means is that what is produced and sold today by our oil and other companies has become state-owned, Gazprom has become state-owned, and many other laws were made when the majority appeared.

And “United Russia” received its first majority in the 2007 elections. Therefore, you can talk a lot about things that someone doesn’t like, but this is our political system, it’s built that way,” answered the “United Russia” leader.

Next, Neverov openly “went on the offensive.”

“I’m not saying what Sergei Mikhailovich (Mironov) said a few years ago. Back in 2012, he said that if the second round of presidential elections takes place, we will never support Putin. But today you support Putin, you supported Medvedev with the SR party for the post of candidate for the presidency of the Russian Federation. Therefore, either put on your panties or take off your tie. At least, don’t insult your party with ignorance of history and such questions,” the politician urged.

Next, Vladimir Zhirinovsky volunteered to bring final clarity.

“You and I have not yet told the whole truth about the October revolution of 1917, 1991, 1993. 2007 - A Just Russia receives only four percent, and the entry barrier is seven. Kremlin officials, they will write this in their memoirs, take away three percent from the LDPR, and add it to you so that you get into parliament. And Surkov said to the whole country: “A Just Russia” is the left leg of “United Russia”. A two-party system was being prepared; you don’t know history well. You were in kindergarten when it all started,” Zhirinovsky said.

“A Just Russia”, correctly, has always voted against Medvedev, but for Putin, for the last 10 years. But who proposed Medvedev in parliament? Putin. Who kept him in power for many years? Putin. This is idiocy: we are against Medvedev, but for Putin! So this is one team, why are you fooling us? Nobody will allow you to make fools of voters, so you will go down, you will not get into parliament next year,” the leader of the LDPR ended his revealing speech.

In response to this forecast, Mironov invited Zhirinovsky to make a bet. The head of the LDPR agreed to “huddle up” on a box of champagne, Neverov symbolically broke the “handshake” of politicians keeping a two-meter distance.

“I have a box of champagne, you have a box of cognac,” suggested the leader of the Social Revolutionaries.

“And that’s it – to United Russia,” Neverov inserted.

“I will give a lot of money to an official in the Kremlin who will tell the truth that a percentage has been added to A Just Russia,” Zhirinovsky promised.
