Zhirinovsky runs for president to resolve the Ukrainian issue
LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who was nominated as a candidate for the presidency of Russia at the party congress today, promised to finally resolve the Ukrainian issue if he wins.

“When we are in power, the issue of Ukraine will be closed. Anyone who wants to voluntarily return to Russian banners will receive all the necessary help. It is necessary to restore the natural borders of Russia. We do not need Hungarian, Polish, Turkish, Iranian, Chinese lands. We only need those where Russians live - southeastern Ukraine. We will close this sore point,” Zhirinovsky said.
He emphasized that Russian lands will return to the Russian Federation exclusively voluntarily.
“We will be happy to wait for some territories of the former USSR to return voluntarily and themselves to formulate a form of interaction with Moscow. Not only Crimea, but also other parts of Ukraine and other union republics can come to us. Or the republic as a whole. They can become parts of the Russian Federation. We can offer them maximum independence except for seven issues: foreign policy, defense, finance, transport, communications, energy, ecology,” Zhirinovsky said.
