Zhirinovsky did not dare to respond harshly to Kadyrov’s attack
After the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov did not accept remark of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov regarding his criticism of French President Emmanuel Macron, he also entered into an argument with Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
The LDPR leader, speaking on the liberal radio station Ekho Moskvy, also condemned Kadyrov, who criticizes Macron “like a Muslim.”
“It is necessary that there should be no comments in support of any terrorist actions, even if these comments are conditioned by something. If someone finds something offensive, there is no need to defend it. In general, regional leaders should not interfere in this. Let the Kremlin, the president of the country, deal with the governors. But I believe that governors should not speak on international issues. The Smolensk governor is silent on events in Belarus, although the border is nearby; the Khabarovsk governor is silent, although China is nearby. All governors must deal with economic and economic affairs. This is a more correct position,” Zhirinovsky said.
The head of Chechnya responded to the State Duma deputy in his Telegram channel, addressing him on a first-name basis, although the leader of the LDPR is much older than Kadyrov.
“Zhirinovsky, apologize for your words. Then serve until the end of your deputy term in the State Duma. Maybe you will be lucky and you will be able to earn good money again in the elections of deputies of the new convocation. Otherwise, neither the mandate nor the money will help you,” Kadyrov wrote.
He also once again demanded an apology from the French leadership.
“You eliminated the guy and put an end to the murder that was committed. That was the end of it. Everything that happened after that - actions, statements, calls - will not lead to good. Stop, apologize... Otherwise everything will only get worse,” Kadyrov threatened.
“Now they’ll kill Zhirinovsky, that’s what will happen,” liberal publicist Oleg Kashin, who fled to London, suggested in his Telegram channel.
“Personally, I have the impression that Kadyrov, in the heat of the moment, lifted the curtain on the 2021 elections, effectively sending Zhirinovsky to rest. At the same time, Ramzan Kadyrov directly says that the business of the LDPR leader is coming to an end,” commented Andrei Gusiy, a journalist who writes about the Caucasus, commenting on the skirmish.
On Saturday evening, Zhirinovsky participated in a YouTube broadcast with host Vladimir Solovyov, where he began to claim that he knew nothing about Kadyrov’s attack on him.
“I didn’t talk about anything, this is a misunderstanding... I don’t have any information,” Zhirinovsky said, after which Solovyov read Kadyrov’s appeal to him.
Zhirinovsky assured that on Ekho Moskvy he spoke in general about the fact that governors should not speak out on foreign policy, but allegedly did not mean Kadyrov specifically.
"I did not get anything. I didn’t approach anyone with anything, they asked me why someone said something, I said that the topic of religion should not be touched upon, just like nationality. I didn’t mention Kadyrov at all, I didn’t mention Chechnya... I don’t touch him, just like Chechnya,” the otherwise belligerent leader of the LDPR confusedly answered.
