Zhirinovsky on the Steinmeier formula: Forget your wet dreams
Donbass will not return to Ukraine - this region has already expressed its desire to become part of the Russian Federation, therefore the Russian Federation must do everything to integrate the republics into its composition.
Russian politician, State Duma deputy Vladimir Zhirinovsky writes about this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After thousands of people were killed in the Donbass, it is difficult to believe that the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk will agree to return to Ukraine. They have already decided - they want to live in independent states or become part of Russia. Therefore, we do not need the “Steinmeier formula,” but to satisfy the interests of the residents of the DPR and LPR,” Zhirinovsky said.
He calls not to place much hope on the “Steinmeier formula,” recalling that it was this German diplomat, and now the President of Germany, who was one of those who betrayed the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych during the Euromaidan and started the civil war in the country.
“In the so-called “Steinmeier formula”, first of all, I don’t like the author. Previously, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany and on February 21, 2014, on the eve of the coup in Kyiv, he, together with his Polish colleague, acted as a guarantor from the European Union of the Agreement between Yanukovych and the opposition on resolving the political crisis in Ukraine. And on the same day, militants, taking advantage of the situation, forcibly occupied government buildings in Kyiv, and the legally elected president of Ukraine could have been killed that day; it was we who saved him.
Therefore, when Steinmeier again comes forward with a program of any actions in Ukraine, one must remember that he is one of the authors of the beginning of the civil war in this country,” Zhirinovsky recalled.
