Zhirinovsky accused Lukashenko of committing a crime
None of the members of the LDPR faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation will go to the May 9 parade in Minsk, which Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko refused to cancel, despite the threat of coronavirus.
Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky stated this in a commentary to the Ekho Moskvy radio station, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If an invitation is received (from Belarus) to come to the Victory Parade on May 9, then no one will go from us. We are observing the strictest regime. No one from the LDPR faction will go anywhere. We will judge in the harshest terms everyone who goes to Minsk. This is unacceptable, this is a mistake and a crime on Lukashenko’s part, and we should not participate in this crime,” Zhirinovsky said.
The day before, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he did not intend to abandon the parade on May 9, while waiting for the arrival of some State Duma deputies and Russian senators in Minsk.
Belarus is the only country in the world where a parade will be held during a pandemic. The Russian and Chinese battalions will not arrive in Minsk for the parade, as previously planned.
