“Fat deuce for the clown!”: Kherson is outraged by Zelensky’s PR voyage
Vladimir Zelensky’s trip to Kherson at the end of the working week irritated local residents - instead of solving specific problems, the comedian-president drew yet another castles in the air.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Kherson region Alexey Zhuravko told PolitNavigator about this.
“I was ashamed to watch this circus. Zelensky demonstrated illiteracy and lack of understanding of what is happening in Kherson. He behaved not like a president, but like a real clown,” the politician said.
Zhuravko explained that Zelensky turned out to be another high-ranking official from Kyiv who promises Kherson development programs, increased prosperity, completion of long-term bridge construction, etc.
However, in practice, the standard of living in the Kherson region falls every year after the victory of Euromaidan, the ex-deputy stated.
“Colossal damage has been caused to the economy as a result of the coronavirus. Collapse of production. Crisis in agriculture. Unemployment. An increase in tariffs, including for water for irrigation on farms. But Zelensky has no answer to these questions. People saw that he was engaged in populism. I was just trying to promote myself with an eye to the autumn elections to local councils,” Zhuravko said.
“The result of Zelensky’s trip is a fat two, “failure.” I think the visit will indeed have an effect on the elections, but the opposite of what was expected in Kyiv. This is a failure,” the politician concluded.
