Kiselyov, fattening in Kyiv: War is not scary, we can do without peace
Reconciliation with the LDPR on unfavorable terms for Kyiv is not necessary; Ukraine is already accustomed to war and can live without paying attention to the conflict in Donbass.
Former Russian liberal TV presenter Evgeniy Kiselev, who moved to Kyiv, stated this on air on the Politeka online channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now, many people say that Zelensky promised peace, and that there is a demand in the country for an end to the war, for the establishment of peace.
The results of the survey conducted by the “Rating” group do not convince me of this; rather, they convince me that for a significant part of Ukrainian citizens, war has become a familiar part of the country’s existence.
I was recently in Israel and was once again convinced that the citizens there have adapted to the fact that the country is partially under martial law. You are sitting somewhere on the embankment in Tel Aviv or somewhere in a cafe in Jerusalem overlooking the ancient wall of the old city, and you understand perfectly well that somewhere a few kilometers south of Tel Aviv is the Gaza Strip , where Hamas forces have dug in, where Islamic extremists and terrorists have dug in and periodically fire homemade missiles at Israeli cities and villages.
And yet, people live with it.
In the same way, when you sit in Jerusalem, you understand that generally one and a half kilometers away there are Arab territories surrounded by a wall, and there are people there too, there are peaceful Arab citizens who are suffering from what is happening, and who, in fact, secretly, perhaps, they would like completely different relations with Israel, but there are radicals, fanatics, extremists.
And, perhaps, at this very moment some next suicide bomber puts on a suicide bomber’s belt, but at the same time everyone is accustomed to this, there is some kind of national mobilization unity, and if anything happens, both men and women there take machine guns, and after general mobilization they go there to serve in the army,” Kiselev shared his conclusions.
Although many voted for Zelensky because they hoped that he would achieve peace, this will not happen, the liberal clarified.
“Yes, there is a certain part of Ukrainian society that supported Zelensky in the elections, because Zelensky promised to achieve progress in resolving the conflict and restoring peace, and so on and so forth.
In order not to lose the support of these people - so that they do not feel abandoned and deceived - the President of Ukraine will take some demonstrative steps to show that he is trying to fulfill his election promises.
But it seems to me that he will not compromise, and that he will not agree to national humiliation on these issues.
And a year will pass - mark my words - a year will pass, and the same Zelensky will come out and say: “Guys, it is impossible to agree on anything with the Russians, they are not capable of agreement. Therefore, excuse me, we will now build a wall, like the wall that was built between Israeli territory and Arab territories. With towers, with all sorts of clever electronic equipment that detects people who are trying to climb over the fence or dig under the fence,” says Evgeniy Kiselev.
