Live on your own! – Karasev came up with the Ukrainian national idea
You cannot endlessly borrow from the IMF, as this will drive the country into a debt impasse. Refusal of loans should become a priority of the country's policy and a national task.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have been talking about the IMF for 20 years. There are situations when IMF assistance is needed. Britain took out an IMF loan in the 70s. After 3 years they paid it back - because you find yourself in an endless debt impasse.
Therefore, we should not rejoice at the next tranche, but we must do everything so that we start paying off our debts. There must be a national economic idea of the country.
Paying off debts to private creditors and the IMF and, in the future, abandoning this model of cooperation with the IMF should become a national task,” Karasev urged.
Let us remind you that, according to expert Ruslan Bortnik, from next year Ukraine will pay up to 60% of its income to cover its debt to the IMF.
