A scandal erupted around the newly begun construction on the Left Bank of Kyiv, near the Dnieper. New high-rise buildings can cut off an entire neighborhood of the capital due to rivers and beaches.
They tried to build up Nikolskaya Slobodka both under Mayor Omelchenko and under Leonid Chernovetsky. But the developers’ attempts to implement their plans have always been defeated in the courts. Construction on this territory involves a violation of a number of administrative and legal acts; in particular, for security reasons, it is prohibited to build high-rise buildings at a distance of less than 100 meters from the bank of the Dnieper.
The developer - the company Ukrbuddevelopent - is going to erect several buildings at a distance of about 50 meters, citing that this is not the Dnieper, but a tributary of the Dnieper - Desenka, which, according to journalists, is false information.
Ukrbuddevelopment is part of the Ukrbud corporation, which is currently headed by Vitali Klitschko’s party comrade Maxim Mikitas. Presumably, the land on which the development will be located is owned by Russian billionaire Vagif Aliyev.
A scandal is erupting around new buildings. Local residents hold protests.
