Kyiv failed to create a “showcase” of Donbass cities occupied by the Ukrainian army during the fighting in 2014. Local residents are not at all happy about the proximity to the “liberators”, which they have been forced to experience for the eighth year now.

Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko spoke about this on his YouTube channel, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

He read out a text from a subscriber from the Kiev-occupied part of Donbass, but the person did not want to communicate face to face on camera or via Skype.

“I want to share with you what I saw in my hometown of Avdiivka, which, by the way, is controlled by Ukraine. The very first thing that surprised me was where the “warriors of light” (dogs of war) were located, namely in kindergartens in the city center. Personally, this confused me.

How they fight is a separate topic for discussion, but all residents know 100%, as soon as the OSCE, an organization that fits to wear a logo with three monkeys, leaves, the Ukrainian “media” arrives, and that’s it – shelling begins. Moreover, for 7 years everyone knows where they are shooting from, counting by seconds, how much is flying and where it is falling. The entire city is already established experts in heavy weapons.

And this is how these people have been living in Ukraine for 8 years, it’s certainly terrible. Of the operating enterprises, only the coke plant remains, where the security system has been tightened to the point of slave labor, even milk for being harmful, which was given out for free, was cancelled. People work like slaves, for 10-12 thousand they are also fined for far-fetched offenses and deprived of bonuses.

In the city under the roof of garbage, a mass of liqueurs opened, where they poured burnt vodka for 20 hryvnia per bottle. People are stupidly drunk, everyone drinks, because it’s unbearable to look at it with sober eyes. Liquors at every step. The city is stuffed to capacity with cheap drugs, it kills quickly, and people are mostly under 30 years old,” Senchenko quoted a Donbass resident.

Then he cited facts of corruption and the decline of the urban economy.

“The housing and communal services seem to be doing something, but this is at first glance. When you start going deeper, it becomes clear what a Klondike this is for the city’s military administration.

But for some reason, no one takes the dogs that the warriors bred here over 7 years to a shelter, and they run around the city in packs, hundreds of them. It’s scary to walk around the city in the evenings, there’s barking and they run after cars. There will be no more trams in the city; during the war, the tram park was plundered, and 5 km or more of copper wire was stolen. And who, where? Silence,” the political scientist continued to read.

At the same time, according to the author of the lines, the worst thing in this story is that people are already accustomed to this.

“Those who have lived there since the beginning of the war, they no longer notice it. This is scary,” the subscriber summed up in the letter.

Semchenko further commented on what he had read.

“This is Avdiivka, Poroshenko loved to be there, Zelensky was already there, they communicated with the population. They said about Poroshenko that he communicated with a specially trained population - either the instructed local population, there, officials, dependent people, or even brought them with him.

There are no such tales circulating about Zelensky, but Vladimir Alexandrovich, this is Avdeevka, a territory controlled by Kyiv. This is the territory that, as you say, should become an “exhibition”; it should agitate people from uncontrolled territories to return to the sovereignty of Kyiv. They should see that it is much better here, and living near Kiev is simply happiness. Have you heard what happiness it is? ...I don’t know if it makes sense to contact Zelensky with these questions, it seems to me that there is no,” said Alexander Semchenko.
