Lvov, October 28 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Lvov resident Svyatoslav Litinsky filed a lawsuit against the State Migration Service a month ago because he was not satisfied with the second page of his Ukrainian passport, where all the information was duplicated in Russian.

The Lviv resident demands from the State Migration Service that they “adhere to the law on the principles of state language policy and remove the dubbing in Russian.”

“One law of Ukraine states: the data in the passport must be in Ukrainian and, at the citizen’s choice, another language of a national minority, for example Greek. The second law states that Ukrainian and, at the request of a citizen, transliteration into English,” said plaintiff Svyatoslav Litinsky, as quoted by his publication "Zaxid".

The first hearing of the case will take place on Thursday, October 30. However, lawyers note that Svyatoslav cannot demand that the passport be written in English, because the language is not regional and cannot be considered a language of national minorities. However, the lawyers agree with the correctness of the claim, because the migration service uses the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs dated April 13.04.2012, 320 No. XNUMX. It clearly indicates what the passport should look like.

The migration service noted that if the law adopted back in 2013 had come into force, not a single Ukrainian would have problems now. “This resolution stipulated that the Ukrainian passport would be simplified to a plastic card, that is, there would not be a standard book, but a plastic card, which would indicate the full name in Ukrainian and transliteration,” said Ruslan Khlapchuk, a lawyer at the State Migration Service in the Lviv region.

Let us remind you that this is not the first time that Svyatoslav Litinsky is being sued over language. Two years ago, he bought a washing machine and found out that the instructions and commands on the panel were written in Russian. Litinsky filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer, but he failed to win. However, the media notes, thanks to him, today all washing machines are imported into Ukraine with instructions and a control panel in Ukrainian.
