A resident of Sevastopol was detained for participating in the Ukrainian National Battalion
The FSB detained a resident of the city of Sevastopol on suspicion of participation in the activities of an illegal armed group.
“It was established that in 2016, a Crimean citizen voluntarily joined the armed formation “Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after. Noman Celebidcihan." The suspect took an active part in the activities of illegal armed groups. At the same time, having a real opportunity to voluntarily cease his participation in an illegal armed group, he did not contact law enforcement agencies with a statement about this, thereby continuing his criminal activities of participating in the battalion,” the FSB said in a statement.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, a criminal case has been opened against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The sanction of this article provides for punishment of up to 15 years in prison.
