Social tension is growing in the vicinity of the villages of Tabachnoye, Vilino and Peschanoye. Here, the cause of discontent was a large-scale landfill, geographically located in a once flourishing scientific village, where they were engaged in tobacco growing (hence the name - author).

Locals say that in the last few months the landfill has been growing before our eyes, and periodically it burns so much that the smoke can be seen tens of kilometers from the source. What can we say about the smell that spreads to nearby villages. By the way, just five kilometers from Tabachny there is Kalamitsky Bay, on the shores of which there are recreation centers and boarding houses.

“A month and a half ago, when the Bakhchisaray office became responsible for housing and communal services, someone gave instructions, as I understand it, the head of the district, to bring the garbage here. They take him and set him on fire. This is a type of recycling. But sometimes it stinks so much that it’s impossible. I just close the windows because I can't breathe. When the wind blows in Vilino, they are indignant there, when in Peschanoye - there. Yesterday two Kamaz trucks were brought from Simferopol. That’s why they are bringing it here from Simferopol?” – local resident Sergei is perplexed. During the holiday season, he earns money in the tourism industry and worries that the smell from the burning landfill will scare away vacationers.

Garbage, by the way, is not always delivered directly to the landfill - during an “excursion” a PolitNavigator correspondent witnessed how a garbage truck got stuck halfway from the highway, and nothing else came to the driver’s mind but to dump the waste in the middle of a field.

But other villages are also unhappy with the head of the district. For example, in Aromatny and Viktorovka there are approximately two similar problems - here the only elementary schools are under threat of closure. In the first case, the reason is the lack of a gym and a fence around the educational institution. At the same time, local residents have a great desire to preserve the school - they are ready to solve part of the problem on their own.

“There is no gym, no fence, the school does not meet SanPiN standards. Last year they wanted to close us because we don’t have a toilet. And we did everything ourselves. We have no idea why we took on our school so categorically. Even in Ukraine, our children studied in two classes in one room and were not closed,” parent Veronika Shimanova is indignant.

Today there are twenty children studying at the school - eleven in first grade and nine in second grade. The district administration proposes to transfer all of them to Bakhchisarai. But getting to it from Aromatny is about ten kilometers.

“We have already addressed the deputies of the State Council of Crimea, the Council of Ministers, and the district council. They said it was expensive to run our school. But traveling by bus is also not cheaper. 10 kilometers to Bakhchisarai. We are concerned about the number of accidents; we have dangerous access to the highway and railroad crossings. Our school is heated, gas heating is independent of the electrical network. In winter, the SES came to us, there was no light anywhere, and our school was heated. They don’t give us a license because there is no gym,” adds village council deputy Valentina Saprykina.

The school employees themselves propose a solution to the problem - according to English teacher Natalya Korneva, the gym could be set up in the former post office building, which is directly opposite the school. Also, according to the plan of the village, a new school should have been built here back in the Soviet years (the current one is located in a one-story building, more reminiscent of a residential building than an educational institution - author).

“We have a post office, and the issue of renovating it and a gym is now being decided. It's nearby. According to the program, we now want to participate in a competition for the construction of a modular gym. We recently won a competition and built two sports grounds and installed water. We need to save the school. If they close it, the village will die out, young families will start leaving here, and then we won’t be able to create a single program for the village. Our kindergarten has more than a hundred places filled. So, the village needs a kindergarten, but does not need a school? How can this be understood,” the teacher is perplexed.

The situation in Viktorovka is a little different. Here the school is also located in a one-story house. But, according to local residents, it belongs to the former head of the district, Mejlis member Ilmi Umerov, who leases the premises and is now planning to terminate the contract. At the same time, there is a building in the village that could be used for the needs of a school, but several years ago, with the support of Umerov and the Crimean State Committee for National Affairs, repatriates were resettled there.

Residents of the Bakhchisaray district interviewed by PolitNavigator, off the record, are surprised why on TV they hear from the authorities of the republic that schools and kindergartens will not be closed, about many social programs and sufficient funding for the republic, but in reality they are faced with sabotage from the locals authorities. People have more and more questions, the answers to which they do not hear.
