“I want us to clearly understand what the southeast of the country is now. There are regions that we are guaranteed to control: Nikolaev, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk regions.
There are regions where there is tension, but I hope that we have eased it: Kharkov and Odessa regions.
And there are regions where the central government functions only in certain reference points... We are obliged to keep Donbass within Ukraine for the sake of the Donetsk people themselves. I spoke with residents of Donbass. You know, there hasn’t been an occupation yet, but they’ve already had enough of it,” the official said.
“Lugansk and Donetsk regions are under the strongest information influence of Russia. Unfortunately, much greater than the capabilities of Ukraine. This influence has largely shaped the worldview of our population in these regions,” says Pashinsky.
