Residents of Foros honored the memory of the cut down trees with a minute of silence. Aksyonov said that everything is legal
Residents of Foros, concerned about the destruction of relict trees during the construction of a children's camp on the territory of the famous local park, observed a minute of silence for the already destroyed green spaces.
At a meeting of the initiative group of park defenders, school teacher Marina Rickman, who had voiced an appeal to President Vladimir Putin the day before, said that law enforcement agencies had become interested in her.
“We protect our Motherland, our nature and our children. What crime? Why do they come to us and conduct “preventive conversations”? Recently there was a call - as I understand it from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Education - a call to the school: “Please give a character reference to Marina Milentyevna Rikmen.” Yes, I’m not hiding – I’m a teacher of the highest category, with 42 years of experience. I am a labor veteran. I realized that the case was being “sewn up”, I was put on a special police surveillance list, the case was being “sewn up”. As I understand it, people are forming an opinion about me, but you won’t scare me,” Rickman said.
Today the head of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov visited Foros. He stated that there were no violations in the construction of a children's camp in the park. Let us remind you that those protesting against the development fear not only the cutting down of trees, but also the fact that a significant part of the park will subsequently be closed to the public - the safety requirements of the children's camp require the installation of a fence.
“I emphasize: no one will restrict people from passing through the park. As for the children's camp, all documents for it are in order. This is a children's camp and no violations have been identified at this time. The purpose of today's visit is to come to a decision that will take into account the opinions and justified interests of all participants in the process. Everything will be honest and fair, I guarantee it,” Aksenov said following his trip to Foros.
The developer’s representative, Ivan Yatsenko, assured that the new children’s center will not have its own beach, a swimming pool will be built in the complex and children will be taken to the public beaches of the village in an organized manner; investors will not be allocated a separate map and will not be fenced off. A promise was also made - instead of every damaged or uprooted tree, the developer will plant three new ones in Foros Park.
“Local children will go to the pool. Those children who will relax here, a swimming pool is being built here for them. We are now considering the issue of allowing local children to visit both the sports complex and the swimming pool,” Yatsenko assured.
Let us recall that previously part of the park had already been lost due to the construction of an elite cottage community there, former editor-in-chief of the Russian version of National Geographic Traveler Alexander Zheleznyak said in his blog.
“The park appeared in 1834; Chaliapin and Gorky rested here. The latter, after returning from Capri, was given the Tesseli dacha in the park for creative work. It was the Tessels that were taken first at the Foros park. At the very beginning of the 90s, Tessels were given a long-term lease for many decades and built up with villas. As they say, “Tessel” was taken by a Tatar company and Mintimir Shaimiev’s dacha is located here. Access to Tessels, of course, was completely closed to mere mortals,” the expert writes.
