Residents of Galicia, due to poverty, are beginning to preserve fish and meat, said deputy Oleg Berezyuk, head of the Samopomich faction, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.

“People get poorer and start canning meat and fish again. This hasn’t happened for 10 years,” he said.

Berezyuk cited as an example a case in Lviv, where a 23-year-old local resident recently died due to poisoning with such food. At the same time, doctors did not find a serum that could save the young man.

“This guy died because of poverty, from botulism, but not because he ate these canned foods, but because in Ukraine in the 21st century there is no serum for botulism. Tomorrow it could be you. A country that is at war has no serum! You could be wounded tomorrow, and they won’t inject you with this serum, because it’s not in the country. This is a humanitarian catastrophe,” Berezyuk lamented.
