Lviv, October 16 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In Lviv, after the Maidan and the beginning of the ATO, the demand for tattoos on Ukrainian themes has increased: Lviv residents mainly apply coats of arms, Cossacks, elements of Ukrainian embroidery, flags and flowers on their bodies.

“There has always been a demand for such tattoos, especially in our region. But during the Maidan and the war in the east, there were more people willing. The pace continues today,” said Lviv tattoo artist Natalya Silver, as quoted by her publication "Gal-net".
“During the Maidan, the demand for tattoos on Cossack themes and the theme of the Maidan itself increased significantly. Molotov cocktails, tires, Cossacks, and so on began to be added to the coats of arms. Now preference is given to flags, coats of arms, elements of embroidery and the like. They also often get military-themed tattoos: guys who returned from the ATO try to capture these events on their bodies,” explained tattoo artist Alexander Kuzhim.
He adds that the drawings are mostly quite laconic and small. And he notes that the most difficult ones are embroidered shirts and portraits of Cossacks.
Tattoo artist Art Direction also noted an increase in demand for patriotic tattoos after the Maidan events. Before this, according to the master, there could have been 1-2 such orders a year.
“Some people know what they want and come with their own sketches. Some people ask to have an individual sketch made for them. Most often, it is a coat of arms combined with a bluish-yellow ribbon or a wreath of ears. They ask, for example, for a Cossack with a saber or a viburnum with ribbons the color of our flag,” says the tattooist.
