Residents of the destroyed areas of Donetsk refused to leave their homes due to the threat of looting
In Donetsk, residents of the areas most affected by the war refuse to leave their destroyed houses and prefer to live in basements, fearing that their homes will be looted by looters.
Honored Artist of Ukraine Tatyana Ponomarenko-Leverash, who paints paintings dedicated to Donbass, spoke about this.

According to her, in areas of the city remote from the center, people do not leave bombed houses because looting reigns there.
“After the whole year that I saw there, there was some kind of peaceful life, smiles, everything was getting better, the children arrived, went to school. But as soon as you go to Spartak, the airport is a nightmare. You're driving down the street, and there are no roofs at all. And somewhere, from behind fences, from basements, people are crawling out. They have their own life there - they don’t leave their homes because there is constant looting. This is the other side of Donbass. The heart is like a rose, Donetsk, and all around is Chernobyl,” the artist said on Vesti radio.
