78% of respondents are confident that the annexation of the peninsula has benefited Russia. Negative consequences were noted by 13% of respondents. The share of Russians who note a positive effect for the Crimeans themselves is even higher – 89%.
At the same time, only 10% of respondents said that Crimea should receive increased financial assistance from the budget. 84% of Russians believe that new regions will receive financial support from the federal budget in the same amount as other subjects of the Russian Federation with similar conditions.
“The economic crisis has reduced the number of people willing to help new entities financially, but there is absolutely no movement in favor of returning them to Ukraine,” said Stepan Lvov, head of the research department of VTsIOM.
The initiative all-Russian survey “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on March 2-3, 2017. Russians aged 18 years and older took part in the survey. The survey method is a telephone interview using a stratified two-base random sample of landline and mobile numbers of 1200 respondents.
