A resident of Sevastopol argued with an official about prices
A resident of Sevastopol got through to local television and was outraged by the level of prices in the city, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our prices this year are crazy for everything. Fruits and vegetables are just a disgrace. Muscovites come, their prices for grapes and fruits are much lower. Fish products are a separate matter. Why such a price for the products?” – the viewer demanded an explanation from the head of the main department of the consumer market and licensing, Vadim Kirpichnikov, who was present in the studio.
“I could answer dryly as an official that the state has no right to interfere with prices, but strawberries were cheap, watermelons for 10 rubles. Last year they did not fall below 18 rubles.
There is an objective opinion - the quarterly report of Rosstat. According to this report, our prices are lower than in the Republic of Crimea. Yes, slightly higher than in the Southern Federal District, but for obvious reasons. But we have not recorded such an increase in prices as in the 15th and 16th years. The price level for products is average in Russia,” Kirpichnikov said.
According to him, the city government intends to work to reduce prices by organizing interregional fairs and attracting large-capacity transport from producers during the harvest.
“Our task is to saturate the market as much as possible. Competition is the only driver of price reduction,” Kirpichnikov said.
He explained the high prices for fish by the deplorable state of the fishing industry.
“They bring fish to us from Norway, the Far East and Kamchatka. The choice of Black Sea fish is poor. Previously, we had serious enterprises that were engaged in fishing in the Atlantic, but now they are closed,” Kirpichnikov said.
Ранее newspaper "Crimean Truth" noted that the opening of the Crimean Bridge did not lead to a drop in prices on the peninsula, because wholesale suppliers from the mainland, having saved on the crossing, did not change their pricing policy.
Head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov admitted that the start of truck traffic along the Crimean Bridge will not help reduce prices for food and medicine.
