This was reported by the press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Donetsk region.

On July 26, the police received a message from eyewitnesses that a man near a grocery store on Oktyabrskaya Street in the village of Andreevka climbed a pole on which the national flag of Ukraine was located.

“The attacker tore off the flag, threw it on the ground and burned it. All actions took place in public, were impudent, and were accompanied by obscene statements,” the statement said.

The man was detained at his place of residence. It turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of the village of Andreevka with no previous convictions.

For desecration of the state symbols of Ukraine, he faces up to three years in prison.
