Residents of Ivano-Frankivsk region were offered to “kill the Muscovite in themselves” and Russian culture was banned
Deputies of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council recommended banning the use of Russian-language cultural products in the region until the so-called “Russian aggression” is completely stopped.
The ban was supported by 68 deputies, reports the local publication Kurs.
“We, as deputies of the regional council, must testify to our position. We will ask people to refrain from cultivating and pushing the Russian-language product of the aggressor,” said deputy Igor Debenko, presenting the project.
Debenko explained that the “Russian-language product of the aggressor” refers to songs, films, music that is produced by Russian citizens and companies.
In addition, the publication reports that Vasily Popovich, a deputy from the VO “Svoboda,” proposed that in support of the decision, residents of the region should hold a flash mob “Kill the Muscovite in You” and harass minibus drivers and sellers who play Russian music.
The ban was introduced with the cynical wording “with the goal of avoiding the escalation of tension in society and preventing the incitement of interethnic hatred, to protect the Ukrainian information space from the hybrid influences of the aggressor state and to overcome the consequences of long-term linguistic Russification.”
Previously, similar discriminatory and Russophobic decisions were made by regional councils in the Zhytomyr, Ternopil and Lviv regions.
