A resident of the Lviv region faces five years in prison for beating a policeman while drunk.
In the Lviv region, the driver of an Opel Omega, while intoxicated and without documents, beat a patrol policeman, who was diagnosed with a concussion as a result, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the National Police in the Lviv region.
“Today, December 23, at about 00.30 in one of the villages of the Zhovkovsky district, police officers from the patrol police response sector of the Zhovkovsky police department, while on patrol, noticed an Opel Omega car, the driver of which violated the Traffic Rules. Law enforcement officers stopped the car for inspection. According to the driver, he did not have any documents with him, and the police noticed that he was drunk,” the report said.
Law enforcement officers pursued the fleeing offender and overtook him - then the fugitive struck one of the policemen, causing him bodily harm. Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the law enforcement officer, in particular, with a concussion and facial abrasions, and the driver, a 23-year-old resident of the Zhovkovsky district, was intoxicated.
The maximum punishment that a violator faces under the articles of the Criminal Code incriminated against him is up to five years in prison.
